Expenda-Ladies – Who Would Be Suitable?

17 August 2012 4:59 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

The dust has barely settled on the Expendables 2 – in UK cinemas today, starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But director Simon West already has another spin-off in his sights, and this time it’s all about… the ladies.

These female action stars have all undoubtedly got what it takes…

West tells E! Online that he already has a few actresses in mind if his bosses decide to create a female equivalent.

He says: “I like the idea of the Expenda-Belles where it’s seven or eight women mercenaries. It would be Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, the list goes on. Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis would be great.

“It would be running parallel. They would meet up and then they would fight and they would join up and save each other.”

Jennifer Aniston’s adventures in medialand

17 August 2012 4:50 AM, PDT | The Guardian – Film News | See recent The Guardian – Film News news »

The real Jennifer Aniston is engaged to be married – so is this finally farewell to Poor Jen, medialand’s favourite tragic character

‘Time wastes too fast: every letter I trace tells me with what rapidity Life follows my pen…”

Thus complains Tristram Shandy, the eponymous narrator of Laurence Sterne’s 18th-century novel, which satirically explores the artifice required to capture a life in writing, how one can only create a narrative through omission and addition (“how much of it he is to cast into a shade – and whereabouts he is to throw his light”) and, most of all, the way that real time will always overtake narrative time.

This brings us, obviously, to “Jennifer Aniston”. Not Jennifer Aniston the actual person, whose heart’s desires and emotional needs are known only to the very few, but the fictional character “Jennifer Aniston”, whose every passing thought and sexual encounter is instantly communicated by »

Mick: The Wild Life and Mad Genius of Jagger by Christopher Andersen – review

17 August 2012 3:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian – Film News | See recent The Guardian – Film News news »

Christopher Andersen’s biography of Mick Jagger is little more than an anthology of juicy gossip

Photographer Cecil Beaton knew where Mick Jagger’s power resided. “The mouth is almost too large,” he wrote. “He is beautiful and ugly, feminine and masculine. A rare phenomenon.” In that mouth, granted pop-art immortality by John Pasche’s Rolling Stones logo, you see Jagger’s voracious, infectious appetite. Although he briefly delighted the left with a spasm of ’68 radicalism during which he declared, unbelievably, that “there should be no such thing as private property”, he had no real affinity for the utopian side of the 60s. He embodied instead the pushy, hard-charging aspect that said that the time for waiting was over and the time for taking was here. His raw desire had a certain brutal purity, and this Pe teacher’s son combined it with a muscular discipline that ensured the band’s improbable longevity. As »

The director of the Oscar-nominated foreign film Bullhead, Michael R. Roskam, is set to direct his first Hollywood feature film. Focus Features has hired him to direct a film called The Tiger, which is based on a true story about a murderous tiger in Siberia.

The script for film was adapted by Babel scribe Guillermo Arriaga from a book written by John Vaillant. The story “takes place on the Siberian plain, where humans encroach on a tiger’s habitat with tragic results. There is a great male lead role of an animal activist and researcher who must stop a man-eating tiger that is attacking the inhabitants of a remote village in Russia’s Far East. The tiger isn’t just killing people, it’s murdering them, and the team that tracks him know their nemesis is cunning, injured, and starving, making it even more dangerous.”

Terry Crews, Randy Couture Talk ‘Expendables 2,’ Casting For ‘Expendables 3’

16 August 2012 11:39 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

If the Expendables franchise keeps adding action heroes at its current rate, pretty soon there won’t be any left over for anyone else. And if Expendables 2 stars Terry Crews and Randy Couture have their way, that all-star roll call will only get longer.

In the sequel to the instant action classic, Crews and Couture both return to the team of elite mercenaries, bringing the same muscle, ear-shatteringly-loud weapons, and comic relief that was such an integral part of the Expendables’ successful formula the first go-around. And while legendary names like Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme join the sequel’s already considerable roster, it’s that original crew that keeps The Expendables 2 going as the team fights their way through Bulgaria in order to stop a madman (Van Damme) from parceling out five tons of weapons-grade plutonium around the world.

Take a Sneak Peek Behind the Scenes of Movie Motorcycles

16 August 2012 6:52 AM, PDT | | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Car chases used to be a staple of action movies, but lately motorcyles have been stealing the show. Every superhero seems to have one — Batman’s (Christian Bale) homemade “Bat-Pod” helped him run down the Joker (Heath Ledger) in The Dark Knight, and gave Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) some much-needed firepower in The Dark Knight Rises; Captain America (Chris Evans) took on goose-stepping Hydra agents astride a customized Harley-Davidson Cross Bones in Captain America: The First Avenger, while The Green Hornet’s Kato (Jay Chou) fought crime on a Harley-Davidson V-Rod — and badass grrls like Salt’s title character (Angelina Jolie) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) prefer them.

Ever wondered where all of those awesome big screen bikes come from and where they go after the movie is wrapped? We recently got a sneak peek behind the scenes of movie motorcycles courtesy of Billy Hammon and Picture Car Warehouse, »
